Actually, the ring looks great already. I don't know what else he'll do to it, but he showed it to me last night and it looked like something I'd actually wear (a rarity among rings these days), and from what I could tell the alignment was fine.
If you don't have a paid account, you will need to host (upload) the pictures somewhere other than LJ. Free sites would include Flickr and Photobucket, both of which I've found to be easy to use and fairly reliable. I can give you more info on that if that's what you need.
If it's an issue of actually inserting the image, you may want to use a cut tag if it's a big image or multiple images, as this saves loading time for people who are on dial-up (or using the Earlham network, heh).
