The awful excuses for human beings who saw nothing wrong with spying on their roommate and posting the video to the internet need to be punished severely. (They've already been added to

I haven't come across any more information for this one, so I'm not sure if the parents are pressing charges or what. I hope there's a formal investigation. It's made trickier, since the bullies are minors. Even so, I have to say I think they (as well as the administration at the school) need to face severe consequences.

"Oh, we didn't mean for it to go that far!" "Oh, we didn't mean to!" are the same shit bullies say.
It's the same. Damn. Thing.
Go say that nine-year-olds not letting each other sit down on a moving bus can't translate to not listening to a no or not comprehending how far you're pushing an already unstable person. Do it. I dare you.

Not ridiculous at all. Now that I think about it, I agree completely, I had just never made the connection before.

Not to mention the worst of all, "She was asking for it."

I wouldn't be so quick to say Clementi was mentally unstable without proof. But as the article you linked mentioned (as have multiple media outlets), he was intensely shy in high school. There's no reason to think he was otherwise for the 3-4 weeks he was in college. Having your personal life broadcast to the internet like that, by the person you're supposed to trust enough sight-unseen to live with for an academic year, is devastating enough to make someone consider drastic action.
I plan to wear purple October 20. How about the rest of you?
