The Senate has attached a rider to the budget to allow oil drilling in the Artic National Wildlife Refuge. I could rant on and on about environmental impacts, and how incredably important this piece of land is for caribu and other species. Instead, I'll use the more current info to share why it's crazy. Personally, I prefer anger. It's easier to convert into action. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what I as a citizen can do at this point, but I plan to do research anyways, just in case.

All you have to do is look at what they do here in Europe. All the cars are MUCH more efficient. As much as I hated the gas prices this summer since I had to drive to see friends and family, I would like to see them return. Our country needs a wake up. Even the middle east will not provide oil forever and right now we are adding way carbon dioxide to the atmosphere at a crazy rate. Those oil reserves are not a part of the biosphere people! Plants on this plannet cannot turn all of that into oxygen... blah. Even talked about from a grubby nationalistic perspective, the auto industry in Detroit could really use some reason to be putting more people to work. Why don't we turn the interests of our government to LONG TERM....?
