Fear

"Admitting you have a fear is the first step in conquering that fear." A school friend of mine would tell me this before I'd have to give a speech in class. We'd giggle at the play on the 12 step program adage & that'd actually be my first step in relaxing enough to not get the nervous sweats before standing in front of 20 judgmental teenagers. I always feel like a weight has been lifted whenever I can conquer a fear!

Fear can make you feel as heavy as a boulder, but beating the fear makes you feel light as a feather. It's miraculous!

After auditioning so much when I didn't even know what I was saying it's just so easy now to walk into a room and be comfortable trying for a part. Yes to exposure therapy!

It works! Do you find the ease of auditioning came naturally after doing it so many times or was it something you had to consciously work at?

I definitely had to work at it but after so many no's I was like well even if this is a no I have to try.

Where would the fun be if everything was a yes anyway? No's build character!

I'm more determined than fearless. There are things I just won't even try, but for the most part, if I want something I just go for it and let the chips fall where they may.

The worst thing that can happen is you don't get what you want & for some reason my brain thinks that is the worst thing imaginable! Not getting one thing can lead to an even better opportunity though, so that lose becomes a big win!

I can't control my fear. You already know this, just be glad I didn't puke on you. I'll vomit and sweat and have a panic attack and it never gets easier. I often get asked then why the hell I do this for a living... but I love acting. I will never control my fears and anxieties, but once I lose myself in a role I'm happy.

I thank my lucky stars you didn't puke on me. 😉 Seeing you be able to push down those fears and anxieties to get on with it all is a testament to how you are as a person. So strong & determined! I look up to you for doing what you do.

I guarantee you're not the only one with insecurities in tht room, not by a longshot. We all have them. Some just hide them a little better. WTG finding the best ways to fight those fears and not let them get the best of you!! ❤️

It's tough to believe that other people feel the same way when I'm in that moment of having to shine and all I want to do is run out to the safety of my bedroom. I believe you though that those people that appear calm cool and collected could be better at hiding how they really feel!

Like my journal title says, I'm always pushing through! There are always more chances to be brave & I will meet them head on.

Oh, I know. It's hard for me to believe that people have the insane anxiety that I have but I know they do. I think we're all guilty of thinking it's just us, everyone else is just fine when we all know it's not true at all, we all have our fears, our concerns, our quirks. We all just have our ways of hiding it too.

Keep on pushing through Z, that's all you can do, is do your best to do just that! ❤️
