EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT SONG. SERIOUSLY. OH MY GOD.

Anyway, I'm currently reading Wicked (by Gregory Maguire) and so far it seems pretty good. The storyline for the musical, though I've heard it's very different from the book, is excellent, so I figure the book is probably even better. You also should (re-)read The Chronicles of Narnia, which fucking rule. Let's see.. Maurice by E.M. Forster is excellent, Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas if you haven't read it, High Fidelity by Nick Hornby, the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman, Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden... Sorry, I don't have any intellectual-type books like all that Vonnegut shit to suggest (no offense to Vonnegut or anything, I just have been in a phase in which I like to read books that my favorite movies were based on, haha), but the ones I just mentioned were all really good so you should give some a try if you have time!

Oh, I forgot to mention The Rules of Attraction by Bret Easton Ellis, so the part about book movies didn't make much sense. I actually kind of liked the movie of The Rules of Attraction better than the book, but that's not really fair since the book came first. Anyway, if you've seen the movie and liked it, or if you're interested, that one is good, too.

I've got a bunch of classic books at my house, like great writings of the Western Hemisphere....like Machiavelli, Freud, Homer, Melville, and even stuff like Marx and Engel and the Federalist Papers. So yeah, if you want some classic reads, digame.

(We inherited a big set of books a couple years ago from my uncle, and I just found out about all these books within the past couple months.)

ha...sadly, I've had to read most of those in the last few months...however, I might want to read machiavelli at some point since I've only read excerpts.

"The Rule of Four" by two authors i cant recall...It's about 4 Princeton students, but mainly about two, one of whom is studying an ancient book called the Hypnerotomachia Poliphili, and the other is the son of the man who had previously made the most progress in discihpering the mysterious books hidden orgasms

It kept me hook at a time when I didn't even know I liked reading, and I think you might like it because i liked it...its interesting

and as Brian suggested...Machiavelli...i recently started reading The Prince just for kicks, lol I know i'm werid

brrrrrrruuuuuce issssssss hottttttttttt

no machiavelli!

but BESIDES that...
1) god bless you, dr. kevorkian - kurt vonnegut
~interviews with famous dead people, faciliated by dr. kevorkian
2) bagombo snuff box - kurt vonnegut
~an amazing collection of short stories, all disecting human nature
3) the poisonwood bible - barbara kingsolver
~okay, sort of a woman's book, but an awesome account of a missionary family in africa
4) the picture of dorian gray - oscar wilde
~amazingly deep and amusing at the same time, great for appreciation of aesthetic beauty
5) persuasion - jane austen
~please struggle through it, i think every man should have read at least one of her novels before he dies

not extremely intellectual-i just can't compare to machiavelli and socrates, but they'll keep you entertained.

no to harry potter...other one maybe...can you suggest any good different plays? I've read dolls house and Marat/Sade, both of which I liked, but I prefer obscure/abstrat/ubsurd theater

so i have a plethora of plays that you would like, i've developed quite a library considering all i take is theater classes, and the ones i like the most are kinda hard to find but you can borrow mine if you'd like. one you MUST read is "The Visit" by Friedrich Durrenmatt. i've also got some Ionesco which is as absurd as you get, 4 Albee plays and tehn some Pirandello, which you may or may not have heard of "Six Characters in Search of an Author". and i have some Durang, and you'd love Mamet's Oleanna. alright, i'll talk to you about it sometime. HAVE FUN!!!
