[Jack had been more or less expecting this day to come. He'd taken the Cullen House in part because it would serve as a decent piratical hideout. However, things had changed in the past couple of weeks. Dawn had come to stay with him, and Buffy; the last thing he wanted was for Blackbeard to take any interest in them.

And Cirno had died. He'd been pacing and fretting over that, finally giving up and heading out to the lake to fire his gun at the squirrels.
