My goddaughter got baptized!  So that was exciting.  And it was great to see my other niece and nephews.

Also I now have a wedding dress.

We visited and did some fun things.  We went to see some an exhibit with light-up sculptures.  I tend to get annoyed at people taking lots of photos because it meant everyone was walking slow and blocking the path and looking at their phones rather than the lights... but I did take one.

I visited the Google office in Sunnyvale (California) for work, and one of the big pluses of working there that we miss out on in our tiny office is the baristas.  If I wanted someone to make me a latte, I'd have to ask my manager.

But in Sunnyvale there are baristas where you just go up to the coffee bar and ask for something, and they'll make it ( Read more... )

I got to be a bridesperson in my old housemate's wedding!  The color was navy blue, so I even got to reuse the dress from my brother's wedding (I have a hard time finding dresses or time to shop normally).

I made hot pepper jelly and it turned out pretty well.  I had so many hot peppers.. I only used a small fraction.

For this recipe, I sort of followed this recipe, although I didn't measure my peppers and for the first batch I didn't mix my pectin well enough and it clumped in places and other places were watery.  But it was pretty tasty.

Back over the pass.

We started off the day with... instant pudding.  Because we wouldn't be able to cook oatmeal or dinners, but we had three boxes of instant pudding, which you don't need hot water for - you use really cold water and some powdered milk.  And since there was frost every night, there was no shortage of cold water in the mornings.

Most of the day was climbing, which was tiring but it was really pretty.  Even if I thought I wouldn't make it up the last part before the pass.  But when we did make it up there, the view was pretty incredible.

Another day that wasn't terribly long.  Although it would have been less long if we hadn't missed a turn off and had to walk back.
