My Bad...

OK.

Look I know I made the mistake of posting on the Vegans community about The Allotment community that I started up last month. I thought that just maybe you had an honest interest in where food comes from. I know that in many of your minds I need to be beaten with sticks because I eat meat. I know that the largest chip in the world is on your ( Read more... )

I'm a vegan, but mostly for health reasons. However, this disappoints me no end. What in the world do these people think they're going to accomplish by admonishing somebody who chooses a different path? If they think that shaming is an acceptable way of recruiting, they should really look at the growth of Catholicism in first-world countries. It's not acceptable. Ever.

A moderate, thoughtful, respectful celebration of differences is always welcome in the community and (I dare say) in life. But when people are too insecure about themselves and feel the need to act like agressive, petulent babies then it is perhaps appropriate to put them on "time out". I'm glad you are not a militant vegan, as the other group seems to be in that vein. Please know that your views on tolerance and recruiting are greatly appreciated and respected!

There are a few members from there who have joined the allotment and they are lovely. They are interested in making their food better, healthier and ethical.

There are a bunch of outspoken militant types though that have questioned my own choices and even my moral standing because I do not do what they do. Every so often there is another abusive email filtering in.

You are right. Its not acceptable.

Oh gawd..

Even after years of seeing this kind of behaviour, it still rattles my cage!
Over the years we've had people coming here for courses.. we had to cook 3 meals a day and the hassle we've had is unbelievable! THEN people (up to 28 at a table) started to stick their noses up at other guests for what they eat.. being downright judgemental. It's ridiculous!

So many control freaks around that feel the need to preach about their diet or outlook or belief or whatever to others.. and judging over others if they don't agree. Their chip on their shoulder is their controlling side.. they lose the plot when they can't control others! lol

Your vent made me LOLOL it's very well said!! xoxoxoxoxxoxo

It felt good to write it thats for sure. They are just totally insecure in their own choices, so fell the need to push it and project. Somehow gain a reassurance that they are SPECIAL..

Its the fact that so many of them started their ultimately nasty response to my innocent, yet shameless plug for the community along the lines of, "You know, so many people go against us vegans because of our scruples.."

Its more like they are gone against due to a severe lack of sense of humour and inflated ego.
