Much ado about nothing

Dec 15, 2006 14:49

OK, I know I shouldn't be even talking about it, but yesterday I was picking mail and since my wife subscribes to one of those tabloids, such as "People", "Us" and "OK", I skimmed over one as I was walking back to my house. By now everybody probably heard about Britney this and Britney that, and I think it's totally normal for a 25 year old to ( Read more... )

I'm in a fantastic mood, except we had a huge fight over nothing.
I hope we'll resolve it tomorrow. :(

On the other hand, what a miserable life the hero must lead. Always devoting himself to altruistic deeds, sacrificing his health for the good of others, and for what? Glory? Glory fades, and heroes are forgotten. Vanquishing all evil would have the same result as destroying all good. I'm not saying that there shouldn't be heroes, but that there wouldn't be heroes if there were no villains. In other words, without outlaws, there's no need for laws, and hence, no need for law enforcement.

You should check out psychologist Philip Zimbardo's answer to the question "What is your dangerous idea?" It's from edge.org's world question center.

I've tried reading it twice, but I'm a bit drunk and am not sure what's he talking about. I'll try again tomorrow. ;)

Well he makes a distinction between "chronic" and "acute" heroes.

But anyway, only the good die young.

nuthin much... sistermoon65 December 16 2006, 11:59:03 UTC
You do seem cheerful.

My SO and I had words too. We're just not talking about it. Going straight to the make up sex....

Evil has it's place. I like my balance of being a semi nice person(shhh, don't tell anyone) and being just a bit evil. But I can't fathom the pure evil. How do they enjoy to annihilate? You really couldn't enjoy a glass of wine could you? Unless you're Hannibal...
Dunno.

Good luck with the job search. I hope you get the right place. At least I hope where you go is not as offensive as where you are now.
I'll be out of work in 6 months! Woo hoo!! Gotta love the government contract.
Got a little wordy, didn't I?

Nah, you sound "business as usual", besides probably hectic holiday schedule, but we're all in the same boat right now i guess.

Well Jabba the Hut in Starwars enjoyed women, and Khan in Star Trek at least had a reason to be pissed off, he was stranded on a desert planet and his wife died. And the Borg Queen tried to make Captain Jean Luc her lover.

Ok, now we're getting into details about some not so morbidly deranged villans, who actually made some sense. I was talking in general horrible evil persons with apparently no brains, or too much of grey matter. ;)

Gaston from BEAUTY AND THE BEAST not only enjoyed his beer, but he was obsessed with getting Belle into bed. Of course, he's one of the more complicated Disney villains, going from man of his time to sexual extortionist....
