How do you comfort and support a friend who's getting married to someone he doesn't want to get married to?

My first question to said person would be: "Why do you feel you need to do this?"

The most direct route is the hardest but swiftest means of getting things back in order.

Because he's my friend?

I have stated that I don't agree with it, but his wedding is two days off: too close to cancel out on. So I have to work on just comforting him, I suppose.

No, no, not to you; to your buddy here (sorry about that). Why does he feel he needs to get married? You've answered that question below, but he really needs to think on it some more. Marriage is not something you do to make somebody else happy. Unless both parties are happy, it's not a marriage that's going to be lasting very long. Calling off a wedding is no fun, but divorce is even less fun.
