SLEEEEEEP

Feb 28, 2014 09:45

So sleep issues have always been my Achilles heel as a parent (well, one of them- I have a lot of heels). I am fortunate because Josie has almost always been an awesome sleeper- even as a newborn. We went through a rough patch when I went back to work (which I handled very POORLY) but things smoothed out and she went to being a good sleeper to a ( Read more... )

I'd do this but I'm afraid that she will expect this every night! I'm not sure what to do.

When Josie has slept between us in the past somehow I always get the brunt of it. I'd be a little nervous to let her sleep on the edge since she isn't used to an adult bed yet. If it did come down to Josie sleeping in our bed, I would probably sleep in a different room, sadly. THAT is how much I dislike sharing a bed with her.

Ha ha- she's fallen on her head enough- I don't want to risk any more brain damage :)

Does she sleep with stuffed animals? Maybe get her one of those larger pillow type animals to be her sleeping buddy. Or find some other way to make going to sleep special again.

Yeah- stuff like that definitely worked when she was younger but now she refuses to sleep with anything except her Pinky doll (and when I say that Pinky will keep her company at night she replies with "BUT PINKY ISN'T REAL"). I think there is a much deeper level of anxiety happening here and she's getting too smart for me to "trick" her into being happy about bedtime again. She has this cool bear thing that projects stars on the ceiling and she was really into it for a while but now she doesn't even want it in her room and says "I want the stars outside, not inside"

Can you "fall asleep" on an air mattress in her room, and then leave once she is out cold, or will that totally freak her out?
I used to do that for Em on bad nights and she was OK with it. I have to chase the shadows out of Em's room and make a "shadow puppy" (a shadow puppet of a puppy, get it) to protect her (although I really think it's just for her amusement). She has been getting up earlier and earlier too 7AMish is the new record, but it used to be 8:30AM, and she has a relatively late bedtime, fortunately she loves her 2 to 3 hour naps in the middle of the day most days.

The only other suggestion if you want her to co sleep on Wades side is to put a lot of cushions or pillows on the floor in case she rolls off. If you want cosleeping but not, maybe get a sleeping bag for her in your room?

I get it, I am a total wimp about sleep.
