So sleep issues have always been my Achilles heel as a parent (well, one of them- I have a lot of heels). I am fortunate because Josie has almost always been an awesome sleeper- even as a newborn. I know that Rachel has some type of clock that indicates to the kids an appropriate time for them to come and talk to mommy and daddy. Have you tried something like that?

Yes! It didn't work! She sat in her room and whimpered! I would rather her be happy and climb into bed with us.

Maybe music would help? At Esther's daycare they play soothing music during naptime, and we have found that on days when she's too wound up to rest that soft music helps.

I have no experience with this, but my friend Laura used to keep an air mattress on her floor and her daughter was allowed to come into her room and sleep on the mattress if she did not want to be alone, but the rule was that if she woke her parents up, she was out.
