Whisky Tasting Notes
Right, I've got a £5 off whisky voucher to spend at Royal Mile Whiskies, so what should I buy? Here's my old favourites:
Regular favourites- Highland Park 12yo - £25 - no Highland Park at either Whisky Fringe, but I tried both the 12yo and 18yo recently and think the 12yo might well be the perfect dram! Less impressed by the very similar 18yo. Alas, ( Read more... )

Fed up with the war on liquids?
This August marks the anniversary of the government's decision to ban liquids in "sensitive" places - aeroplanes, Holyrood Palace, and who knows where else?

Hey, Google Maps have got high-resolution satellite images of Edinburgh at long last! A better way to vote?
It's election day here in Scotland and it's got me thinking again: Instead of just giving you a ballot paper with a bunch of names and parties on it, why aren't there computer terminals at polling stations that provide the conscientious voter with the opportunity to actually read about the policies of the person/party that they are voting for?
