As with most agency let flats, you sign an initial six-month contract with the agency, that guarentees you the flat (and binds you to it) for those six months. After that date the contract can end at anytime by the landlord, with two months notice, or by the tennant with one months' notice. Our previous flat was a bit different in that after the initial six-months we would then sign another binding contract for anywhere between six-months and two-years. We didn't want to sign up for the full-term in case Tereza found a job prior to the end of her contract, as we couldn't move, so we went for another six-month contract, and the landlord chose to sell our flat - almost immediately as soon as we agreed on the next six-month contract. They're all bastards, you can never tell what they are going to do, but everytime the worst possibility I can imagine always proves to be true in my case ( ... )
