Have I ever said that I just love the way you describe things, of the vivid images you spin in my head? I love the detail of the noises the ice makes, the way your mind is halfway up the iceface already as you prepare, the way you hold the pick up at the start as regarding some weapon of war... (Am I reading too much Viking prose?)
I don't think you're a deathwish nutter. Passionate about what you do, yes. ::nods:: I hope you have the most amazing time. I'm sure you will. :D
Writing and reading are a two way activity. One can try to write things as vividly as they're able, but without readers whose minds are as vivid as yours...
Yeah, I was playing with the image of the pick at the start and finish.
I've gone and come back already and I really DID have the most amazing time! If I get a chance, I'll scratch the real experience down too.
I shall look forward to reading that account! :) For many and varied reasons. And feel free to call me Hazel. Being called Peverell reminds me of my stint in a boys' school. lol
More John! More John! Does he have a Scots accent?
I really enjoyed this. I hope you consider submitting some of your stuff to magazines. It's very entertaining and vivid. Perfect for someone like me who'd NEVER climb. I can still experience it vicariously through you, in the comfort of my own, cozy home. Mike and I are watching that Everest show that follows the climbers as they try to scale Everest - brrrrr.
Yes, I'd LOVE to hear about your experience in MT. Please write it!
Sadly, no accent. John is American born. He did get married in a kilt, though, and he's as burly in build as they come. He's not particularly handsome, however. (But don't let that ruin any preformulated daydreams.) You should probably be asking for "More Garrett, More Garrett!" He's the wild man/poster boy of the story (hence the string of girls) and more endearing than I gave him credit for.
Funny you mention submitting. I have a good friend reading over something right now and if it fits the needs of where I'm thinking of submitting it to... I'll divulge more later, but for now, it's a good first step for me to go through the process of trying to tool something up, even if this round turns out to be just practice!
Thanks for reading! I'll try to cobble the next bit too...
Hmmm... sounds like I've only written the teaser article. Dang, this writing stuff is hard work! *grins* Sometimes, it's easier to write the anticipatory stuff than the debrief upon returning, because I'm so tired and pumped at that point, I can barely hold a pencil! At least it's a very satisfied tiredness. Normally that passivity upon returning home leads me to a book in front of the fire, but I'll get back to work as a writer!
See above description on John. I see we all have our particular weaknesses. ; )

Your descriptions are so vivid. I feel like I'm along for a vicarious ride/climb. And I LOVED the bit about the sounds of the ice.
As for your depiction of John... *fans self* I knew Annette would like that one, too! ;)
