High Summer Hazards
A three foot long rattlesnake crossed my running trail this morning. In the end, it was less scary than the bad haircut I got this week. Probably because I saw the snake coming and managed to avoid it. -

Rules of Civility, Amor Towles
I loved this book. Rules of Civility by Amor Towles.
Set in 1930's Depression-era New York, it was full of complex, likable characters, plot twists that I didn't see coming (there were niggling hints!), and settings, settings, settings. The writing is so enjoyable that I found myself going back and reading some of his passages twice. The similes, ( Read more... ) -

I was hoping for a natural delivery, but Baby Y's umbilical cord was wrapped twice around his neck so his heart beat was dropping as labor contractions intensified. They pulled him out by C-section. Last night we went to a concert by one of our absolute favorite musicians, Matt Costa. Being five quarters quirky, Matt decided to make his entrance with his full band via the audience. So... guess who he stopped EXACTLY RIGHT IN FRONT OF for the full harmonica jam of Miss Magnolia? Right, us.
So rad.

Summiting The Chief
Wednesday, after 11 hours and approximately 2,000 feet of climbing, we topped out on the Stawamus Chief. The Chief is located about an hour north of Vancouver along the panoramic Sea to Sky highway.
Wednesday also happened to be our wedding anniversary.
