Names and 8 Week Pictures
The puppies have new names. I keep accidentally calling them Dru and Spike. In one way it wouldn't be horrible to keep their litter names. I didn't mind keeping Spike's name, but the character Dru is a psycho who talkes to herself. I really don't want to jinx my puppy. Plus, people keep thinking it's spelled D-r-e-w and she's a boy.

Zing, Dru, and Spike spent the day in Deland with Amy and her awesome crew. The pups had so many wonderful experiences herding chickens, playing with cats, and meeting strangers. I'm really happy with Dru and Spike. (At birth, I was so sure that I was going to keep one of the b/w girls.)

Final Decision!
I just got home around 2am after driving to get the puppies evaluated (again) by a show border collie breeder. (She really knows border collies and structure.) I had basically decided to keep Dru before tonight. Dru has a nice neck/front. She could use a bit more rear... nothing serious. :) She loved Spike. Puppy Play Time
All the puppies were complete rock stars and loved the tippy board. Spike was the best, but I asked my dad to tape Dru for me because she's probably staying here. ;) The puppies went to St. Pete this morning to visit a friend before a swimming lesson and some play/training at my mom's. My mom's picking one of the b/w girls, so she took Slayer and Anya home to help her decided who's staying. Since she's clicker training them everyday and working on crate skills, it's a great deal for me! ;)

Seven Weeks
Seven Week Pictures Here!
The puppies and I spent the afternoon at my mom's. She was nice enough to restrain the puppies so I could take some pictures. All the pups have rockin' recalls. They're also getting the hang of going outside on grass instead of on puppy pads, which is making my life so much easier.

Seven Weeks!
The puppies are seven weeks! They started crate training tonight. (Picture Here!) Bully sticks are magic! I think I jinxed myself by posting the pic on Facebook, Spike got tired of his bully stick and is currently throwing a tantrum!
I'm waiting for the puppy evaluations before I pick, but I've narrowed it down to two puppies. Making decisions ( Read more... ) -

Heat, humidity, and mosquitos are all part of FL. If you spend enough time outside, they really don't bother you anymore. It's the rain that is really annoying; everything's flooded and muddy. The dogs needed baths, so we trained and played in our personal lake. Afterwards, the dogs were too tired to protest bath time.

New Play Area
The puppies have a new outdoor play area (picture here!).
There's a video of them trying out the new area. It's about 70 square feet. I think that's definitely big enough for four tiny puppies. They should be quite content and stay in their area! (Spike and Slayer are extreme escape daredevils. I should obviously keep Dru and Anya!)

Starting to rethink the "keep two puppies plan".... how many days until they're 8 weeks?!
Things I've learned from this experience:
- When you think you have plenty of bedding/towels, buy more!
- The above also goes for bleach, paper towels, puppy pads, vinegar, etc.
- Giving puppies a bath means that they will get an upset stomach from the Salmon as ( Read more... )
