Hey guys! Do you have any tips for interviews conducted over the phone? I have one of those coming up and I could use any and all help. Thanks :)

In related news, my life is so full right now, I think I might explode.

The biggest thing is to smile like you would during a face-to-face interview. Obviously you don't want to sound bored (which is how people tend to sound over the phone), but you also don't want to sound like you're grinning your fool head off.

Also, go somewhere where there are no distractions. If you feel more comfortable walking, make sure you're not out of breath.

I think those are the biggest - my (successful) phone interview wasn't too bad, and I think it helped that I wasn't being stared down by someone. Other than that, just relax, and good luck!

Oh, that's an awesome tip! I remembered that when I was calling this morning... I smiled when I was leaving a message on the guy's machine. Thank you!

D'oh! I'm sure it wasn't as terrible as you think.

This morning, I was dialing the number and suddenly realized I didn't know what I'd say if he didn't pick up and I had to leave a message! hahahaha. I think I blabbed something totally incomprehensible. So I followed it up with an e-mail just to make sure that something understandable came out of my brain.

Treat this like any other interview.

Rehearse answers to at least the standard questions and prepare one or two of your own.

Good luck honey.

Thank you! I did take some time to think about the usual questions. I'm worried that because of the nature of the company, they'll ask me about flying monkeys or something, so I'll make sure to be reasonably caffeinated tomorrow when he calls.

Remember to smile.

Yes, it sounds stupid as they can't actually see you, but trust me - your smile CAN be heard.

Also, I have found it helpful if the location you sitting at during the interview is quiet, comfortable, and, if possible, full of notes of encouragement ("Smile!", "You are doing great!", "Pr0n is fun!", whatever...) and notes regarding the place you are interviewing for (so you can be focused on the idea that this is where you want to go and also so that you have some good possible questions to ask of them at the end of the interview - good questions from you may put you over the top in their estimation.)

Good luck!!
