As I look back on all that I have learned this quarter, I have been most surprised by the things I have found myself taking for granted. I always assumed that because I know how to extricate myself from awkward situations confidently, that would translate cross-culturally. I assumed that because I rarely have any problems with men approaching me

traveling will definitely make one realize what they take for granted, and a lot of the times it turns out to be the "little things in life". But of coarse, they don't turn out to be so little. I like how you feel confident in America's society, it is a good point that it does make one feel almost ready for anything, but no... it doesn't work quite like that which makes traveling that much more fun-
