Blues on a boat

Mar 10, 2010 23:15

Hi LJ.

It's been a long time. Hopefully this extended entry full of love, lust, drama, mystery, novelty, and cultural judgement makes up for it.

Yeah, on a boat. )

cruise, relationships, dancing, blues, dating

Awwww, sweet boy, hugs to you, keep the optimism even if it doesn't work out sometimes, k?

Also, cruise ships are creepy. I've never been on one, but I saw a movie about one once, and it sank and every one froze.

Yep, still optimistic. This was a calculated gamble on a long shot. I was hopeful, but not deluded, if that makes sense.

Hey sweetie, sorry it didn't work out. What a great story you have though.

I've cruised 6 different times, and am dying to know what cruise line this was on?

Ah. Well, the Mexico trips tend to be quite party-like. The last cruise I went on was for Carnival but it was not the Puerta Vallarta/Mazatlan/weekend party cruise trip. Be aware that many other places in the world that cruises happen have fewer "kegger" feels to them. Alaska, for example, is lovely and has very few partiers, IMHO.

Still, cruising is not for everyone. Thanks so much for sharing your story, and for being willing to take a risk. The heart wants what it wants, and you gotta go with it when the spirit moves you.

I'm impressed with your bravery to launch yourself into a sea of strangers for a weekend of adventure. I haven't done anything that dramatic recently in the pursuit of love, but then I haven't had a good crush in a while, either. It is a shame we are on opposite ends of the monogamy spectrum ( ... )

It was out of character for me as well, which was part of the reason I did it. And yeah, I don't crush very often either, less than once per year, so why not go for it?

Good to hear from you. Weird story, but I'm glad you went, because if you hadn't, you may have put forth way more time and energy. Good to put the flame under it and see if it broils or chars. :-)

And, btw, I am not at ALL surpised that you did this. This is actually very like you. It was a calculated risk.
;-)

Much love!

Hi! :)

I like the flame metaphor. May have to borrow that.

Calculated risk, yes. I was thinking of it in the vein of grand (vain) romantic gestures, which it wasn't quite, so yeah.

Hugs and love to you!

Actually 'broils' was not the word I was looking for. "Sautes" is actually better.... ;-)

I'm sorry it didn't work out, that sucks.
But I think it's great you took the chance and went. That's what life is all about. It's important to shake things up from time to time.

Yeah, well, I'd rather that after all that shaking it up I'd landed someplace besides where I started. That said, it was a worthwhile experience overall.

Oh I don't think you ever land where you started from, you've learned things from this experience and even if you're in a similar place it's not the same place.

Yeah, good point. You can't step in the same river twice, and all that.
