Update re water situation

Well, for the whole of this morning the lines between Gloucester and Worcester, and Hereford and Worcester were closed. Late this afternoon the line between Gloucester and Worcester reopened, but the line between Gloucester and Cardiff is now flooded at Lydney and there is an unreliable taxi service that may run to get past the flooding... You could try taking a train down to Bristol and changing at either Parkway or Temple Meads. That would bypass Lydney, but won't help if the Severn Tunnel is closed. The only other option that springs to mind is heading to Shrewsbury from Birmingham and onto Cardiff from there.

Actually it looks like the Severn Tunnel is open, so that's probably the quickest way home.

All the trains out of Worcester are not running. Shrewsbury may be open, but we can't get there from here. The Network Rail website is the one I'm watching for what's shut down - the Beeb hasn't been much use for the trains.

Boy are we glad we moved at the moment! Think we'd be one of the ones without water and maybe without power!
