A life update followed by a rant

Once again I get on the computer and my nomes start overreacting to something (i.e. allergies). Could I be allergic to the internet? I had a whole list of things that I wanted to write about, but unfortunately I've spent so much time thinking about what I wanted to say that now I'm bored with the topics

I agree that basic isolationism is a conservative idea, but how is a self-sustaining economy or a sovereign nation a "conservative" term? They seem more like fundamental ideas rather than ideological concepts.

Oh definetely ideological concepts, but it seems like they are ideological concepts more commonly held by "conservatives". Maybe I'm wrong. I start getting confused, especially now that we have "neo-conservatives" vs. traditional conservatives, classical liberals, and libertarians, etc. I'm not always sure where to draw the ideological line, or even if they really should be in the same party. It seems to be the same on the "left" as well. Let's here it for more than two parties!

I, too, wish we could evolve beyond the two party system. The more sophisticated a nation becomes, the more nuanced the various political positions become. And I will say this for our media-obsessed culture; Our love of multiple options (on our cable channel line-up, our grocery store shelves, and everywhere else) makes it likely that the two parties will explode into many smaller niche parties. This seems to me a good idea... then the smaller parties will mirror the many lobbying and special interest groups behind those political parties. It might not look pretty, but at least it would be more accurate than our current deception

Granted much of the current woes could also be fixed if the two parties reformed around different values... rather than trying to rally around old talking points that reflect outdated ideological platforms. Whether its through a re-vamped two party system or a multi-party system, I'd like to see some change.
