You just have to convince him that vasectomy means sex anytime anywhere without having to worry about having the proper protection with you. It's totally the way to go. I know men don't like it but it's so much less invasive and risky than having your tubes tied.

Also, tubes tied scares me because I had a friend's sister get her tubes done and the doctors messed it up and she didn't realize it until she was pregnant! How terrible would that be?

That would, in fact, be terrible... but you've got that same risk w/ any method of BC short of a hysterectomy (or, I suppose, removing the testicles completely).

Well, what I think happened to her was she had a C-section and she wanted to not have any more babies so while the doctors were in there they were suppose to tie the tubes and they forgot to do so, despite charging her for it. Evil evil stupid doctors!

Well, I'm curious about merrywidow's soapbox...why no depo? I've been on it for years, no problems. No period, no weirdness, no hormonal shenanigans. Well, except now that I've gone off it, it's been 8 months and STILL no period, which is a tad disturbing...but I'm patient, no worries.

Gary: YOU WILL BE FINE. GET THE VASECTOMY.

I believe Merrywidow's soapbox has to do w/ weight gain & complete lack of sex drive. Squeezum's last GF had the same reaction to depo, in addition to going batshit crazy, so I doubt he'd be particularly happy if I told him I was going to go that route. ;}

Well, you've ruled out everything. Unless you get into abstinence hard core, you're going to have to bend on something.

I've been on the pill for 4 years now and never had an issue. It makes my periods less painful and less heavy. I have no children. I've never had accidents. There was only one type (Apri) that caused breakthrough bleeding and I got off that horrible crap within one week. They like giving it to people who can't afford expensive stuff. SAY NO to APRI. Take them in the morning with breakfast right when you wake up. Keep them next to your alarm clock or something.

I have a friend who has had equally good results with the patch because she's crap at remembering to take pills.
