This could be my longest LJ dry spell since I've started this journal. I've posted some tidbits here and there, but nothing of consequence for some time. ( Read more... )
I always read and enjoy very much hearing from you; I guess unlike an email there isn't the direct expectation of a response, so LJ lets us slide even farther into the antisocial arms of sterile communication formats. First you called at people's houses, then by letter, then the telephone, then by email, then by text message, then by blog. It gets less and less committal. But I digress into a cliche luddite rambling . . .
I'm glad you got a cheap guitar. Nothing says "I will abandon this hobby almost immediately" like dropping a ton of money on something. On the flip side, I know suspect mad success for you. MOH and I are trying to find Dutch lessons to take. If you learn some Dutch folk songs we could combine our new skills next year in a traveling band.
We wanted something kind of obscure, but that we could travel to and show off our skills with if we learned it well. Ta da! Plus, my cousins speak Dutch, I thought they could help me practice.
We actually found them at the German Embassy. The Dutch Embassy doesn't have any. Go figure.

It was so great to see you guys over the holidays. Your new place is fantastic, and I can't wait to see the yard sometime when it's green outside.
