On the Road Again, and into the ditch.

Well, not quite THAT bad, but yeah. Here I am, writing this post at the Freightliner in Council Bluffs, IA. The clutch brake started acting up, meaning I was having more and more trouble getting the truck into gear from a standstill. Council Bluffs, IA... I spent a week there one afternoon... I couldn't wait to get out of Iowa when I lived there. It was so backward feeling, for me, people stuck in a rut in their way of thinking, their way of handling situations, and their inability to be kind to strangers while putting on that fake smile and pretending to be friendly.I hope you're able to be free of that wretched backwater region as soon as possible.

And I hope the vehicle doesn't need even more major repairs. It seemed to be a problem my grandfather and another good friend who used to drive long-haul would always have to deal with, particularly throughout the midwestern U.S.

So far, so good. I don't yet have a load out of here, and all the agents probably won't answer the phone until Monday. Understandable, if also frustrating. But while I'm here I saw a trailer shop, so I need to go pick up one pin liftgate trailer pigtail so I can do that one dedicated account again. It'll probably not be till Feb. now, but at least it'll take care of the remaining months till the mate gets back in the truck and we drive team once more.

What really makes me nervous is the lack of mask wearing around here. With how Covid has affected my own family, you bet I'm putting it on whenever I go inside anywhere, but others? Shees.
