I hit on someone on the bus today. I even gave her my phone number. I was very courteous, yet did not rely on silent telepathy to convey my interest at any point.

I have already been congratulated by one ex for doing something that would have saved I estmate on average, around six months to a year in previous relationships.

Yay me!

I totally want to congratulate you, except...on the bus? I've spent so much time making fun of people who hit on other people on the bus! It wasn't like "You ride the #5....I ride the #5....we have stuff in common..." was it? Tell me y'all struck up a conversation first!

p.s. actual line! used on me! unsuccessfully!

No, no, we talked before the bus. She started it, which I think loses me valuable points. But I completely failed to blow the conversation before we got on the bus, continued it on the bus, only really clumsily bashed my head on the strap bar once (and in such a way as she laughed), gave her precise directions to where she was going, managed to construct a perfectly plausible yet patently transparent reason to get off at the same stop, and brought the conversation to a coherent but anticipatory close. Plus the whole giving phone number business, which was kind of embarassing but that's supposed to be a bit sheepish, right?

never underestimate the bus - i never found love a la "under my umbrella" but for a year I had a book club with these two people who rode the 27 from 25th to 9th with me every morning. And that bus stop book club made getting my ass out the door on Tuesday mornings a lot easier than all the other dread filled work departures.

The book club met during the bus ride? That's a fabulous idea!
