Well, it seems that D&D has come out with a class designed on the singular tastes of Steve and his magical evil hat, the Factorum. A roguish jack-of-trades who can do a little bit of everything with a witty word and a daring grin on his face.

Does the class require the character to wear a hat? And can the character cast fireballs?

No to the hat, and yes to the fireballs.

Winter days driftin' away, to uh-oh those winter nights

It's an all int based class, with a few spells, some magical healing and undead turning, some tricks for better combat, and better skill use which all run off an "inspiration pool" which refreshes every scene. The pool can be a bit small though. Pretty good skill totals and every skill is in class. It doesn't do any one thing insanely well, but he can work for almost any member of the party.
