Rhinoceros

Went and saw Eugene Ionesco's Rhinoceros today. Damn, that was a good show. I have to admit though, even after all the shows I've gone to, I still can't seem to get used to all the overacting stage actors do. There were two great quotes in the play:

"Happiness is such an egotistical thing." and "We'll read books together! I'll become clever!"

that Zero Mostel movie was very good, but I haven't seen it since high school. In college I read the play, which has impossible directions, (something like "the rhinoceroses become more and more beautiful, the humans become uglier and uglier") and I always wondered if anyone actually tried to do that.

that was interesting - those directions were mostly handled by the cast's reactions to the rhino's - the animals didn't change in appearance. it was pretty well done.
