The Wire

I don't suppose there's anyone in this LJ world who watches The Wire? Y'all are into Veronica Mars and Serenity and all that stuff. I don't watch a lot of TV, mainly because I have a really short attention span, so when I am able to commit to something for 26 episodes, and counting, it's pretty exciting ( Read more... )

Darn it, yet another person recommending "The Wire." The people I know here who have suggested it to me have said it's really quite good. I probably will break down and watch it next year.

Also, we know that the SQ is secretly funded by the crax trade in Baltimore, no sense is trying to convince us otherwise, Z. :D

We love The Wire, but like you we've only seen it on DVD and are anxiously awaiting S3. Awesome.

Oh! I'll have to remember that the next time I see you guys! I just watched the last episode of season 2 the other night. Is it weird that I felt really bad about the person's death at the beginning of that episode? I mean, he wasn't the greatest guy on the planet, but he wasn't the worst either... I was sad.

I felt the same way. That's why I like the show, none of the characters are cardboard cut outs, they all have both good and evil in their nature. It's very engaging because of that.

I haven't seen it but have also heard good things. I'll have to put it on my Netflix list.

Speaking of police drama's, I'm getting hooked on Cold Case, and I don't watch a lot of TV either. I think it's a neat premise, and I like the way that they go between the past and the present.

"Of course, I wouldn't recommend watching it if you're planning a fun vacation to Baltimore, but as a resident of the city, the Wire doesn't seem entirely exaggerated, although I can't claim any expert knowledge of the West Baltimore drug street scene.

Oh yeah? What about that guy getting arrested on your front porch for stealing "deodorant"?? :P

LoL. That's true. See, I guess it's so normal to me that I just let it fade into oblivion... the one thing they have failed (unless it's in the third season) to portray accurately is the extraordinary high number of people in electronic wheel chairs on the roads in Baltimore. My neighborhood alone has at least three regulars.
