it all began with Ross, the librarian at the Hoose library of Philosophy at Mudd's. Mark Taper Hall, where most of our classes are held, is a non-descript, functional building without justice to the humanities departments which it houses. Funnily enough, today I thought of the old idea I had for a film/narrative -- of Adorno in LA, of his first time, upon arriving from Old Europe ravaged from the war, encountering this strange of land of opportunities for all in the form of big cars and ready-made rows of homes, of a certain glitz and glamour that he would have found vulgar, finally setting up the Frankfurt School, oasis in desert.

Then I thought of you, and I thought, hey, perhaps, I could write two parallel narratives.

It was a nice thought.

Also, this reminded me that the dominant metaphor during my time with JP was alchemy/alchemical union -- the union of opposites. : )

yes yes, Pinkus bitched of the Jungian archetypes and I immediately grinned with eyes slinted. haaa.

'Adorno in LA' is perfect, further since the Emmy's are being held this Sun and I realise that the Shrine Auditorium is just beside USC, the glitzy event being held in a converted mosque . (!?) Only in LA, seriously. Then, funnily or not, we spotted this guy smoking a pipe on campus yesterday who really resembled JD. I could positively be going mad.
