I HATE MOSQUITOES

Happy Fourth of July. I'm not in the US.

I moved up to D class today, which is pretty challenging for me. We went to the Great Wall on Saturday, and my friends bargained and bought a shitload of stuff from the vendors at the bottom. I have like 8 new mosquito bites. It sucks. It's hot as hell here. This damn computer won't load Gmail.

Aight, so I took a "test" today for them to decide what class to put me in. The test was just having a teacher talk to you for ten minutes and I think I'll be in the C class. A is the easiest and F is the hardest, so C's pretty intermediate. I don't think there are many people doing E or F. Classes are only gonna be from 8-12 every day, so ( Read more... )

I'm back in Kunming again. Yesterday morning, the tour bus went to Yulong Shan, which is close to Lijiang. Shan means mountain, so Yulong Shan is a mountain. It was pretty, although it might have been prettier if clouds weren't covering all the peaks around us. Oh well. I had some yak meat up there too, and that was hella good ( Read more... )

Now I'm in Lijiang, still in the same province. My mom and I have been with a tour group, and we visited Dali yesterday and Lijiang today. We've stopped at a ton of different places, so I won't list them all. These two cities are pretty accustomed to tourists, and a lot of the people living here are not ethnic Chinese, but Naxi. Yeah...so today, I went to Xishan, which is a big hill (small mountain?) next to a lake in Kunming, and there are a bunch of temples and stairs and stuff on it. We wanted to take a rail lift thing across the lake, and when we went to buy the tickets, they also offered insurance for slightly more money. Yeah...so I'm sitting in an internet cafe in Kunming, capital city and biggest city in Yunnan province, which is in southwest China. The keyboard has burns (most likely from a cigarette) around where the G, H, and B keys meet, and a hole burned in the space bar. Yes...so I went and saw the Hitchhiker's Guide movie yesterday. It was pretty good, although the person sitting next to me made it even better. =D

I have Napoleon Dynamite from the library now, so I get to watch that too. And I have a three-day school camping trip this week. Woohoo.
