“This is terrible!” Dong Bang Shin Ki’s manager groaned whilst pacing in front of DBSK, his hand clasped behind his back in an attempt to keep down his nervousness.
“Yunho and Junsu are down for the count, and we can’t have them performing on stage in their condition.” He pointed out, his voice strained and worried sounding.

“It’s not like we’ve never had a member missing when we’ve performed.” Changmin pointed out, his voice sounding surprisingly respectful.

“I know that, but it would only be three of you…THREE! People are paying to see Dong Bang Shin Ki. Not some shamble of what the group used to be.”

DBSK had returned from their cruise one week ago, and things only seemed to be going from bad to worse.
Junsu had gotten a dosage increase on his medicine when he began to show increased signs of depression. Yoochun had also been put on medication because of how stressed and guilty he’d felt towards Junsu. Both boys were in bad shape, with dark bags underneath their eyes, and a lack of energy that showed a lack of sleep for both of them.
The doctor had forbidden Junsu to do any strenuous exercising, and had told him to come into the hospital twice a week.
Yunho, while faring better than both Yoochun and Junsu, was showing a decrease in energy and a monumental increase in appetite. He was up to eating six meals a day, a record Changmin had yet to break. He was also having backaches, headaches, swollen ankles, and other pains that came along with pregnancy.
Jaejoong was faring badly as well, due to the fact that Yunho kept him up late because he was experiencing restless leg syndrome because of the pregnancy, and then got him up early when morning-sickness hit.

“I can still sing the ballads.” Yunho cut in, his voice congested due to an explosion of his allergies over the past couple of days. All thanks to the pregnancy.

“You sound like you have cotton balls stuffed up your nose. There’s no way you could go out and sing live. You’d have to lip-sync everything.” Yunho’s manager responded with a tired sigh as he flopped into his chair, his hands coming out to run through his dark hair.

“Why don’t we just cancel the concert? The tickets haven’t even gone on sale yet. The fans will understand that we can’t help it.” Jaejoong sighed as he rested his head on his folded arms.

“I was hoping we wouldn’t have to do that, considering this is one of your first concerts since your return from Japan. The fans are really excited to see you all…” He trailed off, let out a sigh and stood from his chair, “alright, is everyone okay with canceling the concert?”

Junsu sighed and turned his gaze out the window, Yoochun grunted and slide further into his chair, Yunho sneezed harshly before nodding his head, and Changmin and Jaejoong offered a nod.

“Alright then. The concert will be canceled. You’ve got three radio programs today, as well as a small TV interview. There is also a mini-photoshoot today instead of your visit to the recording studio.” The manager sighed as he passed the day’s schedule out to the members. Take some time to look over it; we leave in an hour to get hair and make-up done.” With those words he bustled from the room, obviously off to hound someone about the cancelation of the concert.

“I can’t do this!” Jaejoong groaned as he shot a tired look at the day’s schedule. “I just need a few days to rest.”

“I don’t think I can do it either.” Yoochun jumped in as he let his head fall against the table-top. “I can barely stay awake while I’m sitting here, how am I going to make it through this schedule?”

“C’mon guys! We can do…do…” Yunho trailed off, his face scrunching up slightly before he let out a huge sneeze, his body jerking forward slightly.

Jaejoong didn’t say anything to Yunho, he simply lifted his left hand and offered his husband a tissue.

“Thank you, Jae-Boo.” Yunho whispered as he took the offered tissue.
“We still have an hour before we have to leave. Why don’t you guys get some rest? I’ll wake you up when it’s time to leave.” Yunho stood slowly from his chair, one hand coming out to rest on his lower back.

“I can do that, Hyung.” Changmin stated simply as he stood from his seat, “I’m the only one out of the lot of you who hasn’t been lacking sleep lately. All of you get some rest, and I’ll get you up in an hour.”

A light snore caused everyone to glance towards the end of the table where Yoochun and Junsu were sitting.
Junsu had rested his head on Yoochun’s shoulder, and Yoochun had let his head rest lightly against Junsu’s. They looked utterly peaceful when sleeping like that, wrapped within each other’s arms.

“Looks like Yoochun got a head start on you guys.” Changmin laughed slightly, his eyes flickering towards Jaejoong and Yunho.

“Changmin, if you don’t wake us up in exactly one hour, I’m never cooking for you again.” Jaejoong threatened, his eyes narrowing in a glare.

“Oh, I’m so scared.” Changmin fired back, a smirk pulling across his face.

“One hour, Changmin.” Yunho commanded, knowing that Changmin wouldn’t let them be late for their schedule.

“Alright, alright. Just go to sleep.” He laughed, waving a dismissive hand at Yunho before he turned to stroll out of the room, leaving the rest of DBSK sprawled awkwardly in their chairs, sleep already pulling them under.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~

“How are they doing?”

“Not great. They need a few days off.” Changmin sighed as the manager rushed up to him the moment he walked out the door.

“We can’t afford to take time off. DBSK only has one week in Korea before your flight back to Japan. We can’t afford to take off a few days.”

“Then would it be possible for us to get shorter schedules?” Changmin questioned as he leaned his shoulder against the wall.

“Do you know how many TV shows and radio programs want to get you boys booked? I don’t think you could attend all of them even if you were staying in Korea for three months!”

“I understand that, but without some rest, the other members aren’t going to be able to do anything, let alone make appearances of television programs.”

“I’m sorry Changmin, I really am, but there’s nothing I can do about it. I know you boys are strong enough to get through this. Just one week is all you need to get through. When you get back to Japan, I’ll clear your schedule for a few days.”

“What if I took on a brunt of the appearances? I could take the television shows, and maybe a few of the radio programs? That way the others could get some time off.”

“I’ll see what I can do, Changmin.” The older man finally sighed, his eyes looking tired, “I can’t make you any promises.”

“I don’t need a promise, I just want you to try.” The younger boy stated softly as he pushed himself off the wall, bowed to his manager and started to stroll down the hall.
He’d been thinking about Haneul whenever he found himself alone. Thoughts of his relationship with that torn and tattered boy caused thick emotions to constrict around Changmin’s heart. He played aloof to the other members, making them believe that Haneul was simply a remnant of his past to be forgotten. That, however, was not true. Haneul had represented a changing point in Changmin’s life, and Changmin believed that he also changed Haneul for the better. The two boys had come together to form a bittersweet love tinged with both happiness and sadness. Changmin wondered, as many people wonder about past relationships, if things had played out differently, would he still be there to protect Haneul from the monsters lurking within the shadows of his mind?
Changmin had played the “protector” from the physical harm that had chased Haneul; however, there was no way he could protect his lover from the things that lurked within the realm of his mind. Changmin had known that in the end, the one thing that would hurt Haneul the most was his warped image of life and the people around him. However, Haneul had seemed to be doing much better, even with his highly feminine look.
Changmin knew why he’d done it…the change of look…it was all for him. He remembered Haneul asking what kind of girl he liked, and he’d said that he loved long hair…soft hair…feminine hair. That, of course, was before he found himself falling madly in love with a boy who he’d never expected to love.

“Morning, Changmin.” A co-worker called from across the kitchen. Yes, somehow Changmin had ended up in the kitchen. Obviously his stomach was still alive and kicking.

Changmin smirked softly, glancing about with the room with an amused look before turning to respond to the greeting from his co-worker.

“Hey, could you give this to Junsu and Yunho?” The female asked as she extended her hand, which held a small, paper-back book with a laughing baby on the cover.

“Mmm, sure.” Changmin responded easily, his long arm coming out to accept the book.

“It’s a book of baby names. I thought they might find it useful.” She explained as she let her hand drop down to her side.

“Oh, I’m sure they will. Though Yunho is intent upon naming his daughter Ji Yul.” Changmin muttered as he flipped open the book and let his eyes skim down the rows of names and their meanings.

“What if he has a boy?” The female co-worker questioned, an amused smile pulling at her lips as she watched Changmin leaf through the book.

“He completely refuses to think about having a boy. However, if he has a boy, I’m sure he’ll find some masculine rendering of the name ‘Ji Yul’. Heck, he might even name the boy Ji Yul.” Changmin responded as he ran his finger down the page of the H section. There it was. Haneul…It was a both a masculine and feminine name meaning ‘Sky’ or ‘Heaven’.
Changmin had known what Haneul's name meant, but he'd always pictured the boy as having a name that meant darkness and depression.

“Ah, I have to get going. Make sure to wish Junsu and Yunho the best of luck for me.” The woman stated as she made a bow and quickly left the room.

“I’ll be sure to do that.” Changmin called to her retreating from as he closed the book and set it on one of the two tables that littered the kitchen floor.

Glancing around with a sigh, Changmin walked over to the fridge and pulled the white door open, his eyes scanning over the rows of soft-drinks.
Deciding on a Pepsi, he closed the door, soft-drink in hand, and moved towards the cabinets that he knew held a variety of chips.

After getting his salty snack he took a seat at the table, glancing at the clock, "Still forty minutes.” He sighed before taking a gulp of the fizzy drink.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

“Morning, sleepyheads!” Changmin called as he opened the door and walked into the room, his third Pepsi clutched in his left hand.

“You have exactly ten minutes to pull yourselves from dreamland and get down to the Van.” Changmin added as he walked down the length of the table, pausing at each member to roughly shake them awake.

Junsu whimpered and buried his face into Yoochun’s shoulder, his groan of annoyance cutting clearly across the room, even if it was slightly muffled.

“Aw C’mon, Dolphin,” Junsu was the only one Changmin used a pet-name with, “you can go back to sleep in the car.” He nudged Junsu, which only got him an annoyed slap from Yoochun, who had become very sensitive about people touching Junsu.

“Are you sure you’re not the one who’s pregnant?” Changmin fired at Yoochun as he retreated a few steps, not wanting to get another hit from his hyung.

“That’s enough you two.” Yunho called as he stood from his chair and stretched his arms above his head, a large yawn stiffing his words slightly.

Both boys quickly stopped when they heard Yunho’s words, their eyes flickering away from each other as they tried to refrain from making snide comments.

Yunho leaned over and placed a light kiss on the top of Jaejoong’s head. “Jae-Boo, it’s time to get up.”

Jaejoong groaned, his sleepy eyes fluttering open from a moment before sleep began to drag him under again.

“No you don’t,” Yunho laughed slightly, reaching down to shake Jaejoong’s shoulder slightly, “we have to get up now or we’re going to be late.”

“Can’t you just carry me?” Jaejoong muttered, his eyes still shut. Yunho, before the pregnancy, had been able to easily carry Jaejoong around; however, now Yunho was having trouble getting around with his own growing weight.

“No, you have to get up, Jaejoong.”

“Fine.” The elder boy finally sighed as he pushed himself out of his chair, his hands smoothing over his slightly disheveled hair in an attempt to make it look better.

“We’re going to the hairdresser, Boo, there’s no need to try and fix yourself up.” Yunho pointed out as he curled his fingers around Jaejoong’s arm and began to lead him towards the door.

“Yeah, but all our co-workers are out there. I don’t want them to see me like this.” Jaejoong shot back as he checked his reflection in the passing window.

“Good to see that you’re still the same vain Jaejoong even though you’re so tired.” Changmin fired at him sarcastically, just managing to avoid a well-aimed smack from his hyung.

“Gosh, is there every a time when you aren’t so snarky?”

“No.” Changmin shot back, a smile pulling at his lips as he followed the rest of the group from the building.

“So after all that happened to you, how does it feel to be back in Korea?” The female MC asked as she crossed one of her dainty legs over the other, a fake smile pulling at her lips.

DBSK was filming an interview for some small TV station. They had fifteen minutes before filming absolutely had to be finished and twenty minutes before the boys had to be back in their car, moving onto their second radio show of the day.

“I can’t really describe how it feels to be back in Korea. It has the feeling of coming home after a hard day of work and just curling up with a good book, or listening to a soothing song.” Yunho recited perfectly. He’d been told the questions they were going to ask, and he’d also been told how he was supposed to answer. Now he was just going through the motions of plastering a smile on his face, and acting like he really wanted to be there.

“Yeah, it’s nice to be close to the Korean fans again. They really give us a lot of energy and drive to do better.” Jaejoong cut in, going completely off the scripted lines in favor of something more…Jaejoong-ish.

Yunho closed his eyes for a split-second, trying to hold back a long sigh. If they just stuck to the scripted lines, everything would work out fine, and they wouldn’t deal with awkward silences or angry staff members after the show.

“That’s very sweet.” The MC stated in a sweet-as-sugar voice, her manicured hands folding neatly in her lap as she let her eyes flicker towards DBSK.
“It would seem we’re out of time for today. Thank you all very much for taking the time to come in for this interview. I wish you the best of luck in Japan.” She wrapped up the interview smoothly, her head nodding to each member before she turned to the camera, a smile plastered across her face. “Thank you to everyone who has tuned in today. Look forward to our next show with Big Bang.” She recited from the prompter, her smile holding until someone yelled cut and the cameras clicked off.
“Someone get me a coffee.” She barked as she stood from her chair, completely ignoring DBSK as she strolled from the set.

The entire atmosphere had changed after the cameras had clicked off. All of DBSK, excluding Changmin, slumped deep into the plush chairs, their sighs echoing each other.

“I’m going to strangle the next person who asks me how it feels to be back in Korea.” Yoochun groaned, his eyes shutting as he pulled in a deep breath.

“So Yoochun, how does it feel to be back in Korea?” Changmin laughed as he stood from his chair, narrowly avoiding a light kick from Yoochun.

“C’mon boys, we have to get going now.” Their manager called as he walked onto the set, his face looking grim as he saw DBSK’s haggard appearance.

“Can’t we have just five minutes?” Jaejoong groaned, covering his face with the back of his hand.

“No, we’ve got a lot to do today, and we have to get moving.” The manager replied, turning to walk away without waiting for the boys to follow him.

Grunts and groans echoed across the set as the boys pulled their tired bodies from the chairs, their shoulders slumping immediately as they dragged themselves towards the exit.

No one noticed that Junsu wasn’t following until Yoochun glanced back to see Junsu still slumped in one of the white chairs.
“Su…we have to get going.” Yoochun called, squinting to see if he could spot Junsu’s eyes opening. He got no response.
“Junsu, c’mon, we don’t have time to play around.” Yoochun groaned as he trudged back over to Junsu and shook his lightly. “Get up please.” He received no response.
“Junsu?” Yoochun’s brow furrowed as he leaned down to look at the pale boy. “Junsu, wake-up.” He shook him a little harder.
“I think something’s wrong with him!” Yoochun called back to the group, a note of panic pulling at his voice. “Somebody call an ambulance!” He commanded in an angry voice.

Everything in the studio stilled for a moment as people turned bemused expressions on Yoochun. What was he talking about? Why was he so panicky? Then the reality of the situation set in, causing people to burst into action as they made preparations for an ambulance.

“I don’t know what’s wrong with him.” Yoochun nearly sobbed, his hands gripping at Junsu’s limp body as if he thought the younger boy was just going to slip away from him.

“Stand back Yoochun.” Their manager commanded as he pulled out his cell-phone and quickly dialed 911.

Within fifteen minutes there was a group of EMT’s lifting Junsu onto a stretcher and carrying him out towards a waiting ambulance.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Dead silence had reigned in the hospital waiting room as DBSK waited on pins and needles to hear if Junsu was okay.
Yoochun had started pacing the floor ten minutes ago, the echo of his foot-fall the only sound in the waiting room.

“Park Yoochun?” A nurse called as she stepped through a pair of double doors, her eyes scanning the room before they landed on Yoochun.

“Yes?” He responded, holding back the urge to send a myriad of questions raining down on the female nurse.

“You husband is doing fine.” The boys let out a collective sigh, “I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions?”

“Sure…go ahead.” Yoochun nodded his head, letting out a soft sigh to compose himself.

“Has your husband been eating regularly?” The nurse questioned, her pen poised over the clip-board and paper that was nestled in the crook of her left arm.

“I uh…don’t…don’t know.” Yoochun furrowed his brow, trying to recall a time when he’d seen Junsu eating. “The last time I can remember him eating, was three days ago when we went to get ramen.” He offered after a short pause, a huge wave of guilt washing over him as he realized that he hadn’t been taking care of Junsu at all.

“I see.” She jotted something down on the paper. “Has he been under a lot of stress lately?”

“Uh, yeah.” Yoochun responded as he nodded his head, trying to regain some composure over his tangled emotions.

“Is he on any medication?”

“Yeah, he’s on an anti-depressant.”

“He suffers from prenatal-depression?” The nurse questioned, her eyes shifting from the paper to Yoochun with a slightly raised eyebrow.

“Yeah…” Yoochun trailed off, not really sure what he should say to that question.

The nurse let out a sigh, shook her head slightly, and turned her eyes back on her paper. “I won’t know for sure until the doctor takes a look at this…but I would say Junsu-Shi is suffering from malnutrition as well as a high fever. He body is absolutely depleted of essential vitamins, and it doesn’t seem as if he’s had any nutritional supplements for a few days.” The nurse ticked off her recordings in a factual voice, informing Yoochun that his husband was apparently not eating.

“He’s gonna be alright though…?” Yoochun questioned, his chest constricting painfully as he thought of life without Junsu.

“As long as no complications occur, he should pull through just fine. However, the doctor my want to keep him here for a few days to make sure he gets proper nutrition.”

“I want to stay with him.”

The nurse turned a sharp look on Yoochun, one of her eyebrows arching slowly, “if you don’t mind my saying, I think it would be better if you just went home and got some rest. You look like you haven’t seen a pillow for a few days now. The last thing you husband needs is you getting admitted to the hospital for malnutrition.”

Yoochun wanted to say no, but he knew there was no use arguing with the woman. So he simply let out a large sigh, thanked her, and trudged towards the door, the other members following after him.
