Erik/Charles, Detective/FBI!AU

I got this idea in my head and now I cannot unsee it: Erik as a brooding, obsessive detective who's teetering on vigilantism in order to catch and kill a charismatic and elusive serial killer, Sebastian Shaw, who murdered his mother in front of his eyes. Moira is the lead agent of the FBI unit assigned to Shaw's case, and she ends up recruiting Dr. Charles Xavier, a reknowned specialist (clinical/criminal psychologist? a profiler? what?), who also happens to be a brother of the unit's newest recruit, Raven.
In the course of the investigation, Erik and the team cross path, and Erik and Charles get on like a house on fire. (And together, they fight crime!) I can totally see it, with Erik wanting to avenge his mother's death once they corner Shaw and Charles appealing to Erik's nature, and so on and so forth, but I would also love to see them solving other mysteries and fighting the good fight.
Bonus points if Hank, Alex, and Sean are the unit's fledging agents, because, aww.

Noooo! *hugs Charles close and pets his hair* Don't be lonely! I love this fic and get stupidly happy every time you update. I love this part too, getting to see a little of Charles's motivations...thank you for being so amazing!

Does Erik not have an actual place to live or something? I love the revelation that Charles doesn't have many people to talk to. This fic is wonderful to watch, please continue!

Charles’s voice took on a concerned note. “You sure you’ll be all right to drive?”
“I’ll be fine.” Erik allowed himself a brief moment of rest. In a second, he’d get up and drive home. Just one second. One more second. One-
When Erik opened his eyes, something wasn’t right.
For one thing, it was light out. Judging by the sunlight filtering in through the windows, it was well into the morning.
For another, a blanket had been thrown over Erik.
And lastly, he was sprawled on a couch that wasn’t in his apartment.
Erik jolted fully awake and swung his legs over the side of the couch. The blanket fell away and something else fluttered to the ground. He reached down and picked it up. It was a small yellow scrap of paper with writing on both sides.
Erik - If you’re reading this, then you must be awake. I don’t have anything edible in the apartment, so I’m out buying breakfast. I’m also using your car. If you’re thinking of sneaking away you’ll have to do it on foot. - CErik searched his shirt pocket. Predictably

Wearing the same clothes for two days didn’t do anything good for his appearance, Erik decided, as he walked into the foyer of his own apartment building. His landlady was out sweeping leaves on the sidewalk. (“On a difficult case, then, Mr. Lensherr?” she called, giving him a doubtful stare.) One glance in the mirror told him that he desperately needed a shower, a shave, and clean clothes. His own apartment was smaller than Charles’s but more lived in. His furniture was mostly secondhand, and he’d opted for a particularly large bookshelf over a television. Everything was clean, mostly because he hadn’t spent much time here since he’d heard Shaw was back in town four days ago
