I get the same responses from my dad..."maybe if you didn't wear black all the time you wouldn't be so depressed, I don't know what you have to be depressed about, maybe it's that music you listen to" arrrrgh. I like the idea of just giving them the leaflets though.
well, I consider myself to be a christian, and I do it. I believe in free will, mental health issues, and that Jesus doesn't play a role in our day-to-day lives. So yeah, just askin' him to make it all go away doesn't magically cure us of the urge. My mom thankfully doesn't know of she would say the same thing - her answer to everything is "well, did you pray about it" or something equally cheezy like "talk to the man upstairs and he will fix it". blech! Sorry you had to read that hon. Thank goodness you have us who understand!! :)
She seems to have "gothic" and "goth" confused, first off. I somehow doubt you're into the visigoth thing LMAO
*hug* I definitely know what you mean. My mom doesn't know about my SI, and (thankfully) her computer knowledge is still limited, but that doesn't stop her blabbing to her real life friends about me ("she doesn't have a boyfriend. I wonder if she's a lesbian?")
In my experience, Jeebuz is incapable of helping you. Odin, now, there's a go-getter.
Just throwing one in for the hard-core Christians lol. i am one, and i've s.i.'d, and not all of us think of s.i.ing and gothic as characteristics of an evil sinner. i know some do though, which is why only one person (maybe her hustband too) know about mine, though i'm in various church service type roles. i do believe Jesus can help us, but it isn't always in the form of bang, you're cured. sometimes it's in the form of helping to make it through the day, knowing you're loved no matter what, or something keeping you from hitting dirt bottom. it's a best friend with power thing.

I know, omg because all Goths are depressed and want to kill themselves.
Actually I wouldn't be surprised if she believed that...
