Little things

Feb 09, 2007 22:53

I was going to post a kind of reflective, depressing sort of entry, because I've been having a pretty bad week and no one to talk to, but then I got something at school today which will be much easier on the senses. It made my day clear a bit anyhow ( Read more... )

I like that third one. Sounds like you've got yourself a little masochist there, or something. ;)

That said: *hugs* Sorry you had a bad week. I know I'm loud and noisy but I CAN listen, if you ever really need someone to talk to.

Hey G.

I'm pretty sure that it's every child's dream in Japan to have "nikku" written on their head in bold red marker. And I'm here to make that dream happen. It really gives you a sense of pride doing the good work.

Anyway, I also appreciate the offer. I may exercise some of those bad days through bad anime with you. ^_^

Know what's even better than bad anime? Bad live-action anime-based musicals.

Seriously.

Jess, I'm sorry you had a bad week. But at least you know that your students enjoy you both teaching them English and torturing them! Anyway, I'm glad to hear that you have a new sense of motivation for the job. You've been there a long time so it's not suprising you start to feel discouraged after a while, you just don't let it keep you from enjoying yourself. Take care of yourself, okay? Later!

P! Are you writing this from the great halls of the Hague? If only they knew. ^_^

Things here are kind of ugh some days. It's not terrible or anything, I'm just looking forward to the end, and a new adventure. Those diary entries did salvage the week though. I'm really glad that the little children enjoy being a part of the many evil things i do to amuse myself at school. It saves me the worry of being sued anyway.

Anyway, I think you might need some encouragement too. After all, you are probably working hard shagging boys and smoking stuff. Naughty!

the state of temporary grace... anonymous February 10 2007, 10:30:54 UTC
i've had that too. it's the stuff you don't notice that affects (surprises) you most. glad something has been restored for you. over there you kind of need that. i just got taken down a peg (once again). not sure whether to trust my impressions (concerning possible hypocrisy) but they are pretty strong. learning to hold my tongue. seems to be working to my advantage. now if i could just think faster...

hope the bad things are turning good.

Chris, I've learned that the longer you manage to hold your tongue, the more time you give your opponent to screw up. It works well, especially if you need time to think. ^_^ But, did you get taken down a peg you needed to be or did something bad happen? In either case, lots of self-reflection and small explosives help. Do be careful not to lose your fingers.

No one to talk to? Try seeing that film Castaway with Tom Hanks....now there's someone with no one to talk to.

So, face painting eh? I personally don't mind being painted - so long as it's on a canvas.

Very true about Castaway, but I do have a Daikon here with which I converse often. I'm pretty sure every JET has long, heartfelt talks with vegetables. It's theraputic. Especially if you have a row with it, bc then you can eat it! O_o

Life Imitates Art? anonymous February 17 2007, 13:45:39 UTC
Right now I'm having a really hard time getting visions of you attacking your students with magic markers like in that Ranma 1/2 episode with the ice-skate battle out of my head. You know, where the guy ends up totally knocked out and unable to move, yet completely covered from head to foot in little doodles of many colors. Except, of course, I see you as one of the hockey players that attacked him, not the ditsy whats-her-name. I'm giggling uncontrollably as I type. It makes for a really entertaining visual, I can tell you. Also, it's amusing to me that these kids both live in fear and excitement at the idea of you being the ALT for their English class for the day. All those little faces turned to you, just waiting (or dreading) to be covered in whatever medium you've chosen for the day (I'm thinking ketchup or mustard next time; tie it in to hot dogs and baseball or football and the crazy people who paint themselves for the games maybe). Anyway, it's getting difficult to type now as I'm imagining you trying to convince the teacher ( ... )
