I am off to Goodreads post haste. I haven't followed the fandom for this series, though I do know about it thanks to the teenaged daughter of a good friend. I'm very, very curious what Veronica Roth did in that final book. *looking forward to popcorn munching*

I haven't really followed the fandom for it, I just know its hughly popular. I realized how popular it was at RT this spring when you saw she was basically the only author there who had "people" from her publisher there to help her. No one else, not even bigger names to us had publisher people sent out to assist them. And then I saw the list of the top selling books and their numbers from last year and I saw how high up she was. Then I realized how big it was.

But anyway, without knowing anything about the book or its fandom I think you can read The Spoiler I am referring to and guestimate how fans are going to react.

I just read the spoiler I believe you refer to and yes, this is a big no no when writing books for a YA audience unless you have a really excellent reason. Or are an extremely gifted author. Even then, the teen demographic is going to flip out completely!

Please pass the popcorn. This is going to be highly entertaining.

I don't think there is an excellent reason. I'm going to guess without knowing for sure or having any deeper insight that she wanted to give her book some higher importance and not have it just be a ya novel but LITERATURE. Because she is a serious Writer, ya know. And maybe she thought if you do something like this, suddenly its not a light and fluffy ya novel anymore and people will take it seriously. Except its just dumb. No one is ever going to call this series, serious literature.

At this point I'm ranking it up there with Breaking Dawn in terms of lulz entertainment value.

Inadvisable plot twist FTW!

I wonder if the studio knew this was coming when they optioned and produced the film of the first book? :p

I suppose the studio could just change the ending of the third movie if it ever gets made? They could become very popular if they did that!

Damn, I shouldn't have come to your comments. Lol. Well, maybe it's good that I did. If this would have come as a complete surprise I would have been livid.
