The Book List!

Aug 03, 2004 00:12

So in a past entry I asked people to recommend some good books for me to read (on top of my already extensive proposed reading list; this is going to take me the rest of my life, haha). I'm going to list them all here for my own reference but hey, some people might want to flip through it too for something new to read ( Read more... )

With regards to my Fail-Safe movie recommendation, I forgot there was recent version that (I think) starred George Clooney...I don't mean that one.
There was one from the 1960's I think that starred Henry Fonda and Walter Matthau that I'm talking about.

actually, david foster wallace wrote infinite jest, a supposedly fun thing I'll never do again, girl with curious hair, the broom of the system, and brief interview with hideous men, all of which are way better than a heartbreaking work of staggering genius (which is by dave eggers). that said, read infinite jest, because it's awesome.

also, read crime and punishment (fydor dostoyevsky) and the mostquito coast (paul theroux)

Hahaha. I actually read it in my WR150 class which was called Sympathy for the Devil, and on the first day of class the prof. handed out the lyrics to the song. I never read Master & Margarita, though, I think I got lazy and all we did was talk about it in class a bit. I don't even remember what was said about it, to be honest... I forget most of freshman year.

I'm just starting Book 2, so I'll let you know :)
