i was grossly disappointed with how FEW people wore black yesterday in order to show that they want racial discrimination to end.  I'm hoping it was merely because no one knew about it and not just because they opted not to. i'm so tired of apathy.  PEOPLE, START CARING ABOUT THE WORLD YOU LIVE IN!!!  YOUR apathy enables the injustice and the ( Read more... )

in all honesty, do you think people wearing black would actually accomplish anything. i would rather see them actually do something regarding their actions towards others, and that's not a one day event.

i wore black, but i agree with you. it was very disappointing. i'm thinking a lot of kids didn't know about it? because i honestly didn't until early that morning, so maybe i'm being way optimistic or maybe people really just didn't know

i also know a lot of people who were unaware as to why people were wearing black--which actually served the purpose probably better than all of the people who were wearing black, because it caused the spread of information. After people started hearing about it, and hearing the full story from those who were protesting, they actually started caring about it. so maybe it's not so bad after all....

I really don't see the point of wearing black. What good does that do? It shows that you are so dedicated to ending racism that you'll wear a common color? Maybe if it was like, wear neon yellow to stop racism, so at least some people would come up to you and be like, "Hey, why are you wearing that?" and you could be like "To prevent racism duh!" Then they'd say "How are you helping anything?" and you could call the person an ignorant apathetic bigot who is making the world a worse place, and everything would be as it should be.

All the people handing out flyers wearing black at Hofstra were only handing them out to other black people. I actually wore black because I remembered, but I was completely ignored. I know thats probably just the situation, but tell me whose the racist one there? If anything this whole thing has made me see how racist other colors are towards the caucasian people. And I could back that up if challenged.

oh david. now, i'm sure that you just said that because you were upset at the way you were getting treated by the 'other colors' on your campus, but i know you don't think that all 'other colors' are racist. sure, all races have their racists, but not all blacks hate whites. that's a silly thing to hint at.

Yeah, but generally speaking. I think a big shift has been made in racism. Now if a white man gets hired over a black man it's racism and stuff like that. You know what I mean!
