038: Darc [Accidental Video]

[The feed switches on to show someone with their back to the camera, standing a little further off into the room. Its obvious who it is given his somewhat unusual features, and also obvious that he doesn't know the camera is recording. He's standing in front of the TV - he found it on when he entered the room - and it can be gathered from his tense

[He folds his arms over his chest, still looking very vaguely amused despite the vacancy of his eyes] Well...you'd better make the decision, then. Seeing its you who's gonna end up looking stupid, not me... [That might be an attempt at teasing...in his current mood its somewhat hard to tell]

I make stupid look good at the very least. [He laughs a little.] We didn't get that much sparring done I'm afraid. Apparently I'm too busy making a fool of myself instead.

[He raises a brow at that] If you say so. [Well...it helped distract him a little, at least] Well...maybe you need more practice...if you're gonna fall over all the time.

I just need to get more used to wearing loser garments. Usually I have skintight wear. It makes moving easier. [And he does so much actively, that anything to slow him down isn't very helpful. Frickin capes.]

[He shrugs] Fighting in looser clothes is simple enough. Though I guess these make it easier to be more...flamboyant [He's only recently learned that word, so he feels quite pleased with himself for being able to use it! He tugs a little at the material of his cargo pants to punctuate his point. And really, trying to do flips and such whilst wearing a skirt is considerably more risque than in his current attire...]

[He can't help but chuckle at the word. Flamboyant is a good word to describe Dick.] It really is. But it just makes mobility a bit easier and reduces friction also. And, I can honestly say I'm more comfortable in more skin tight clothing.

[Aww, Darc. Dick can teach you all kinds of words if you want.

Don't try doing a flip in a skirt please...]

Hmm. [He looks dubious] I guess I can see that it would make movement easier, but I don't think I'd wanna wear it. This is tight enough. [And he pulls on the material of his cargo pants a bit; he still finds them somewhat uncomfortable, but as Izaya had said, they really are easier to fight in. And yes, there are certain benefits to pants that a skirt certainly dosen't have, as Izaya has actually pointed out, much to Darc's embarrassment...

...and he can always do with someone willing to help him expand his vocabulary...he's been learning to read and write only since he arrived here]

I guess I do enjoy wearing it. But you usually have to either be very comfortable with yourself or having it as part of a necessity.

[He smiles a bit. He gets the feeling the other had some embarrassing moments before moving to wearing pants.

Dick would be perfect to help in both departments. That is, if Darc asks and makes it known he would like to learn.]

...right. I think I'll just stick with these.

[Because Darc has some serious body-confidence issues, thanks to his mixed heritage, though learning to accept humans and being around so many of them is slowly helping him come to terms with that. And yes, there have been a few embarrassing moments...

..always a problem, given that Darc hates admitting to what he sees as his short-comings, always concerned that people will judge him dur to his lack of education]

They look good on you if that makes you feel any better.

[And Dick doesn't just go telling lies like that. He's sure he'd be a little awkward if you were in a skirt though.

But it would give them both something to do. And both of them probably need some ways of staying occupied.]

[he shifts a little awkwardly at the compliment and averts his eyes; he's still not used to people making positive remarks about him, though his answer is better than it would have been a little while ago]

Hmm. I guess so.

[He still wears it sometimes, when he can get away with it. He infinitely prefers it to the cargo pants...

...and it would. Now to find a way for Darc to bring it up]

Have you read any of the books? [Sudden topic change. But hey, they're in the rec room and the bookshelves aren't that far away. It kind of caught his attention.]

I'm guessing book genres are different for you?

[Darc can bring it up now. Ohoho.]

[He stiffens a bit in response to the question - it seems a little worse than usual, given the painful reminder he received from the broadcasts as to his own inferiority - and despite the slightly-dead look on his face he attempts to seem as disinterested as he can]

Some. [The easy ones...though he struggles with fiction, which prompted Izaya to pick up sience and factual books for school kids in an effort to help him learn. He shrugs in response to the genres question, not actually knowing the answer to that...] ....I guess so. Its not like I had a lot of time for that kinda stuff...

[Poor Darc. If there's anything Dick is particularly good at, it's reading body language. That slight stiffening sure has him interested.]

Some? Hmm... [He's looking over at the bookshelves now.] I like to read the more complex, fictional books. We should read together sometime. I'm sure that not everyone reads as much as I do, but I bet if you read with me, I can get you at a pretty good level. [He gives him a knowing smile. Subtle. Not really. But he isn't outright saying that he knows Darc isn't very good at it.] We don't have a lot to do, so might as well make use of the books around here. Only if you want though.

[And Darc is particularly bad at hiding his bodylanguage, though he is inaware of this. He gives the other a slightly sharp look when he realises what he's implying, though he does no more than that, and doesn't try to deny it...]

...Hmm. I don't like those kind at all. [Because he really does struggle with fictional works, and often has difficulty following the plot movements; he doesn't see the point in something that is entirely made up. Again, the concept of doing something purely for one's own enjoyment is something he needs to learn] But I guess we could do that. Maybe. Just because there isn't anything better to do, a lot of the time...
