Some I can't bear to part with. Others I have no problem giving up. I find that the books that fall somewhere between these two categories can go, but only if I feel they're going somewhere they'll be appreciated. There are the books I usually donate to various organizations such as the library, shelters, etc. Another really good place to donate them (especially old text books that a lot of other places don't seem to want) is Oregon's Books to Prisoners. :)
I hauled around cases and cases for years till I finally didn't have anymore room. Now I use www.paperbackswap.com it keeps a book list of what you've posted and what you've read. It's like having them but without the storage issues. ;^) For international swapping there is www.bookmooch.com

A book is a good friend while reading but unless one wants to reread it again, there is no reason to keep it on a shelf collecting dust. Now if it is a valuable First Edition or better yet signed by author that is a different story. ron...
