It's a bit unfair, but this is my reaction when (non frontend) developers get angsty about adding "new" technology to a stack and having to learn new things. After having to relearn everything I know every couple of months for the past few years, I'm maybe just a little unsympathetic. ;)

I've mainly kept to staying away from facebook. I reactivated my account when my dad's foster sister died and her sister tried to get in touch with me over facebook. Took a while to get around to. Also means I finally have a legal form of ID.

I just resigned from Catalyst. I have been offered a role as a senior developer at DNA. Perks include user centric/ user driven development, every second Friday off (or every Friday with 9 hour days), and a really pretty office environment ( Read more... )

Decided to ditch Facebook for a while. I have no faith I won't just reactivate it tonight, or this weekend, or next week - but I am pretty sure I am better off without it.

Hung out with some bright kids from the open source academy tonight. I am in no way envious of the depth and breadth of knowledge they are going to need to acquire to reach their dreams.
