I'm getting a break from my roommate. She's gone to Budapest for a month, and I couldn't be happier. So, the Halifax Explosion was one of the major events in this city's history: in 1917, a ship loaded with explosives destined for the Western Front crashed into another boat in the harbour and blew up. I've been in Halifax for a week now. It's the longest I've been away from home since I was travelling in 2005. It's funny how similar this feels to that trip in some ways.
