This year Woolly Hat Week is 3 - 10 February.

The Sailors' Society asks people to knit woolly hats and send them in to them. They can then give these to merchant seamen as a token of regard for the hazardous work they do carrying the goods we need across the sea for us ( Read more... )

In the book "Three-cornered and long shawls" - Icelandic with a thin but adequate translation - there is a shawl on p64 that I'd like to knit.  The instructions would have me knit the body, cast it off, knit the wide border separately and sew it on, then apply some sort of edging ( Read more... )

My mom knit a soaker a while back that was way too wide and too short for it to fit any child, so I felted it to try to get it to be less wide and it only shrank in height....haha ( Read more... )

Hello, everyone. I'm currently working on a hat for my husband's dad for Christmas, and I want to spice it up a little bit. I'd like to add a Viking Turid on it to make it more interesting. Does anyone know where I could find a pattern for the turid online?
