Today I was given a short tour of the third floor of the Smithsonian Museum of Natural history- a floor with row upon labyrinthine row of file cabinets stretching to the sky…very Indiana Jones-esque.   Really, I can’t emphasize how many damn storage cabinets there were in that palatial space, but, hey, it’s the Smithsonian!

AG! free at last! I just finished the schedule from hell- six weeks worth of every-day classes- 8am-10am and then a 8 1/2 hours until the next class....which ended at 8:30 pm...And I couldn't drive home because of gas prices. All done with that one. Damn...that was grueling.

Next week its off to Washington DC for a research grant month! phew!

Let it be known that at 10:45am, Pacific Standard Time, on the 13th of June, 2008, Aelfgifu finished the first full draft of her (expletive) doctoral dissertation.

Okay.  calming down.  How the hell did this happen?

24 and 1/2 hours to age forty.  God, that went by fast!  Soon it will be official, I will be "eccentric" instead of "quirky."

I shall include pictures of my cats in preparation, in another 40 years time, of becoming my neighborhood's "crazy cat lady."
