I listen to a lot of books on tape during my commute.  And because our library selection is fairly limited, I listen to books I wouldn't normally pick out on my own -- such as the perennial books-on-tape mystery.  I'm listening to some mysteries by Elizabeth Peters based on early 20th century Egyptology.  Peters is an excellent writer except for ( Read more... )

WOOT!  Just finished a draft of my second-to-last chapter of the dissertation!  It may suck but it exists!

I have exactly one month to reach my goal of a complete draft of the dissertation and novel before I hit 40!

Fuck...I don't want to be 40.

I just applied for a teaching position in OR in which getting to the second rung meant answering a bunch more 'supplemental questions' on teaching style, approach to various lecture topics etc.  I know colleges use them to make their decision, but mine was 9 pages, and I still had, in that time, to create lectures for my real (as opposed to ( Read more... )

I learned that when Starbucks had their big training day on Wednesday (when all the Starbucks nationwide closed for 2 hours) they had to pick their favorite customer and make their drink.  Two just told by two separate baristas at my Starbucks picked me.  That made my pathetic little day.  Someone likes me!

Well- I got a review for my novel snippet- and it was like being back in the RATM days! From anonymous, of course! Well, if DaVinci codes got published, who is to say there is no hope for the rest of us. I am the one stop shop for crappy prose.  And now my first rave review!!!!
