OK, so this is like a week old, but Project Two (the cake) went off just about as well as Project One. The cake itself kind of fell apart, but luckily you can't tell (except that the icing is all crumb-y on the side, but i don't think it looks too bad). So Project One (baking Fourth of July cookies) was a rousing success. I was able to scrounge up some meringue powder for the royal icing, and the colors came out nicely, and even though I hadn't touched an icing bag in years, the cookies came out looking pretty darn good!
