Why is life so difficult? Unfortunately, it can still get a lot worse.

Why do people like Rasknolnikov over Hamlet? At least, that's the general impression I've been getting. Hamlet seems so much cleverer than Raskolnikov, at least in terms of verbal quips. Today Mission San Jose lost miserably at the Otter Bowl -- which is the regional section of the National Ocean Science Bowl. This is shattering news, as it's the first time something so terrible has happened in about 7 years.

The reasons for the defeat are such:
a) The questions got harder.
b) The competition got stiffer.

I just watched The Piano. It was beautiful and intense. Basically the story is about a mute woman, Ada, who goes to New Zealand in an arranged marriage. Yes, I'm happy and grateful about Intel, but agggh, I hate the interviews! I just had the most horrible one, which was in Chinese. Or rather, 20% was Chinese, 30% English, and 50% blank pauses. I DON'T speak Chinese at home (and therefore, at all -- except for, like, ten minutes on Sunday), so it's no surprise that I can't speak it to save my life ( Read more... )
