Lots of stuff going on (hey it's a public forum not everything should be public!)and I needed materials. In the end I like the effect of simple crayola kids paint, Sanford watercolor markers, and pens (another time I'll list them all). Friday's Five is hijacked by my memory of Earth Day...
Did you ever see the movie Choose Me? One of the characters, Keith Carradine's, was someone who is leaving a mental hospital at the beginning of the movie, and throughout he makes these fantastical claims. alright, this is rough, very rough. All the details will be refined and more consistent, this is a quick drawing on twenty# bond paper. If approved I will pencil, then ink, then color (thinking dyes and colored pencils) on Paper for Pens. The lettering will be in red with a thin white outline and shadowed by black. I got a gig writing about literature for the Examiner.com. It's locally based, but based upon traffic, I think I understand I can work my way up to a larger market. I can review any book, but told them, my natural bent is children's literature. Controversy, race, and the problem with perspective...
There is controversy in Casco. It's got me thinking about the lines we, okay I draw in the sand. I spoke recently of facing my family's racial fears (without ever knowing the true reason, but being able to guess), and realized there were times I spoke up and was put down, sometimes harshly.
