Chapter Four - ???

"You can give the girls code names," Mi-nam suggested. "That way you can talk about them while she's around without mentioning their names and giving her clues." - "I'll Be Good For You," Ch. 5

In Go Mi-nam's opinion, Park Oh-lan's first visit to the A.N.JELL mansion as his girlfriend went off mostly without a hitch. Of course, his bandmates and their girlfriends, including his usually timid twin sister, couldn't resist teasing them a bit; but when they weren't trying to embarrass the fledgling couple on purpose, the evening proved to be quite enjoyable.

Things went smoothly until dessert, when Oh-lan asked about the code names. "Code names?" Su-jin repeated as she forked up another bite of cake.

Mi-nam exchanged alarmed looks with his bandmates. They hadn't used the code names in Oh-lan's hearing ever since the day of the fundraiser, when she found out about Mi-nyeo, Ha-neul and Su-jin, and had thus forgotten to explain.

"Yeah," Oh-lan said. "Back when I was researching for the book, I used to overhear you guys speaking in code, as though you didn't want anyone to know who you were talking about. Were you talking about the girls?"

The members of A.N.JELL proved no match for four inquiring feminine glances, and had no choice but to nod. "Ye-es," Tae-kyung replied, pretending to be absorbed in mixing his tea just right. "You understand why we had to keep it a secret, don't you?"

"What was my code name, oppa?" Mi-nyeo asked, looking in turn at him and her brother.

Her boyfriend looked embarrassed. "Mother Teresa," he mumbled, hiding behind his teacup.

"Oh!" She smiled, pleased. "Well, I'm honored that you'd think of me at the same time as her."

(For his part, Mi-nam thought it was disturbing that his bandmate would associate his girlfriend with a nun, but on the other hand, maybe it meant that he didn't have to worry about them fooling around and getting into trouble before the wedding, whenever that would be.)

"How about me?" Ha-neul asked Shin-woo.

"Yours was Batgirl," he replied with a small smile. "Pretty cool, huh?"

She smiled back and nodded. "Yeah, I like the sound of that!"

(As he had the first time Shin-woo revealed the code name, Mi-nam wondered what kind of meaning it had for the guitarist. He was now even more sure that there was an interesting story there, judging from Shin-woo's relief over Ha-neul's reaction.)

Su-jin eyed Jeremy suspiciously. "I'm almost afraid to ask what kind of code name you gave me."

Mi-nam wasn't the only one to laugh at the redheaded boy's hesitation. "Tell her, Jeremy," he teased. "The others already know their code names; Su-jin deserves to learn hers, too!"

The drummer made a face at his tormentors. "Well, if you must know," he told his girlfriend, "your code name is Cookie Monster."

"WHAT?" she squawked. "Ha-neul gets an awesome nickname like 'Batgirl' and I get named after a monster?"

"It's not the 'monster' part that's important! Remember that time we baked cookies?"

"Is that something you can talk about in front of us?" Ha-neul wondered with a quizzical glance when her friend blushed red.

Jeremy looked around desperately for a way out. He found one when his gaze fell on Oh-lan. "Wait a minute! Since our girlfriends have code names, Mi-nam, shouldn't you give yours one, too?"

It was Oh-lan's turn to blush. "I don't need one."

"Sure you do! What if he wants to talk to us about you and he doesn't want anyone to overhear?"

"And it will mean that unni is officially an A.N.JELL girlfriend," Mi-nyeo added, and the other girls nodded their agreement.

"The nicknames were your idea, Mi-nam," Shin-woo reminded him.

"Yeah," the keyboardist sighed, "and it's come back to haunt me."

"Just give her a code name already," Tae-kyung ordered impatiently.

"Patience, brother-in-law. It takes time to come up with the perfect code name."

"You barely gave us time to breathe, let alone think of names," Jeremy said.

Mi-nam ignored that, choosing instead to contemplate Oh-lan quietly. She stared right back at him, an eyebrow raised in challenge even though she was blushing as well.

What kind of code name should he give her? Definitely not something like "Cookie Monster," of course... but not something like "Mother Teresa," either, which seemingly tried too hard to sound profound. Something like "Batgirl" was cool, but also too harsh for the image of her that he had in his head. Besides, he thought as the concept for Oh-lan's code name began to take shape, couldn't pass up the opportunity to annoy her a little, too.

"I got it," Mi-nam finally announced. "I'll call you Tinkerbell."

oc, complete, you're beautiful
