We spent a lazy morning in camp this morning. We checked email, offloaded our camera and played ping pong while our computer installed updates. Once we got moving, we drove to the park and walked up Day Mountain. We chose to go up one of the carriage roads because they are wide enough to walk holding hands and they aren't very steep. This morning we went on a bike trip. We biked around Eagle Lake and then around Witch Hole. The carriage path around the lake went up the side of a mountain so we had a good 300ft climb as we road. We did pretty well and only got off to walk once or twice for short distances. It was so beautiful. The weather was just right for it too ( Read more... )

this morning we went back to Thunder Hole. We had hoped that it would be more spectacular approaching high tide. In reality, the crevasse was too full to get a good crash. We climbed around on the rocks and found other places where the waves were crashing. When the water calmed at the tide change, we drove up to Ellsworth. We stopped at the LL ( Read more... )

It was raining this morning and so we slept in. It wasn't raining hard, but enough to sound nice on the canvas. We had a big cooked breakfast then drove up to the Visitor's Center. Last night we decided we needed a bigger cooler. We first went to K-Mart because it was closest. They didn't have any larger than a lunch box. Target was the same. Walmart only had styrofoam ones and Lowes just had the ones for drinks. We were about to give up but decided to try Dick's and they had some large nice coolers, so we got one. As ( Read more... )

Today was a long day. We drove into San Francisco over 7 miles of floating bridge. We parked and took a trolley downtown. We ate at an Indian place and then met up with Daniel. This morning was a slightly clearer morning in Yosemite. We could see Upper Yosemite Falls and hiked for a bit up one of the mountains. We drove out of the park on one of the roads that had been closed the other day. We stopped in a mining town and did not go through the museum as the guys were smoking cigars. This morning we went on a bus tour of the valley. It took two hours and we didn't see much more than if we had driven by ourselves. We saw a number of big waterfalls. We saw 9 deer swimming across the river. After our lunch, we drove up 41 which was very snowy. We drove through a 5/6 mile tunnel and it was like going into Narnia with tons of ( Read more... )

Today we drove from Fresno to Yosemite. Part of the way we got told we needed chains to go further. We stopped for lunch and it stopped snowing/raining. We decided to try a different road up the mountain though Dad still got chains. That road was neat because we were in the valley between two very steep tall mountains.
